As an instructor, what do I need to know about Project 2013 in terms of this... RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I am working with an NGO in Nepal, and we have a weeklong course on Development Project Management, where I take a few days to introduce aid workers to MS Project and project planning techniques using the software. Currently I have the participants come prepared to class by having them first download the Project 2010 trial and then install on their laptops.

    Qs.

    1) Will I be able to do the same with Project 2013, ie. point them to a download site?

    2) Do Project 2007/2010 files open up with 2013 just fine?

    Well, thx for the advice!

  • Hi Jiggy--

Yes, MS Project 2013 trial can be downloaded from below site:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/hh973401.aspx

You can open the Project 2007/2010 files in MS project 2013:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/project-help/file-formats-supported-by-project-2013-HA102749286.aspx
The standard file format for a project, which uses the .mpp extension. Microsoft Project 2013 supports opening from and saving to the file format used by Project 2010.

    Hope that helps.
