Opening without Project 1 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a way to open Project Server 2010 without Project 1? Very few of our Project Managers start with a new project. It is just an annoyance to constantly "Discard changes".

Any switches available? Or any other solution?

  • If the PM will simply open the project they want to work on, then Project 1 will automatically close itself, without requiring the PM to do anything at all.

To add to Reid's excellent answer, another way to avoid this is for each PM to do the following:

    1.  Click File > Options > Advanced.
    2.  In the General section of the Advanced page, select the "Open last file on startup" option.
    3.  Click the OK button.

The above steps provide the only automatic method to prevent the Project1 project from appearing when you launch Microsoft Project 2010.  Personally, I prefer the method that Reid offers.  Hope this helps.
