Poor quality on voice RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Since a couple of days we have problems with our voice quality. In monitoring reports we see high values on Voice Switch time ( Caller Client Event ) and Round trip time and Avg. network MOS degradation. Of course we have checked all things like network configuration etc.  Any suggestions on how to fix this.

  • Lync voice quality always depends on the network bandwidth. Please check your network has enough network bandwidth for lync a/v media traffic.

  • Hi,

Is this occurring in every calling scenario or is it isolate to a group of endpoints? Is this Lync to Lync calls, calls to the PSTN, calls from remote users over the Edge etc?

  • Hi Justin,

It is not occuring every call. It happens both on internal and on external calls.  I'm still monitoring my servers allmost every hour. I'n not very sure, but it seems that in every poor quality call a Lync client with CU 3 is involved. This is software version 4.0.7577.314.  I'm now downgrading every client that reports a problem to CU2, wich is software version 4.0.7577.256. Hope that this helps.

    cheers, Hans

  • Hi Hans,

Can you feel the lync voice quality is poor in the actual daily work?

Please check if the poor voice quality is occured in the busy time.

  • Hi Sean,

Poor quality is all day, there is nothing to see about busy hours or something like that.

  • Can you be a bit more specific in terms of "problems with voice quality".

Are you experiencing calls dropping, echo, jitter, delay, long call setup time etc?

  • Dear Friend,

Lync Used to internal and Edge connected calls RTAudio,RTVideo codecs, and those codes will vary according to Bandwidth. for you matter we need to have a proper list from where to where then its easy to explian and also understand.

please let me know the status.
