Space Issue due to hyper-v machine .bin RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear Tech Team,

My C drive space is getting full due to hyper-v machine setting(.bin file - the size of Memory allocated in GB).

Please find the below screen shot. If I delete this file would it be any impact on hyper -v machine or if I delete the .bin file any impact in hyper-v machine.

Please suggest and need help to resolve it.

    Thanks,

    Sudhanshu

  • Looks like you're using Snapshots - delete the snapshots from within Hyper-V Manager and those files should go away. You should not be using snapshots on a production server for very long. Sure, 1-2 weeks, but beyond that they should be deleted so that the files can be merged.

Also, if this is not snapshots, it may be your backup methods crashed during backup and failed to remove these files. If that's the case, they would be fine to remove.

  • Hi Adamj,

I am bit confused that this .bin file is created in C: drive pragram data folder which I show the screen shot,it not probably the snapshot as created in the Hyper-v virtual machine manager.

So pls advise can I delete the .bin file.

    Thanks,

    Sudhanshu

  • Hi SUdhashu,

Since WSUS forum is more related about WSUS server and Windows update issues, and seems your questions is related about Hyper-V, you may post on Hyper-V forum for better help:
