Please help, can't access internet while VPN connected. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I builded my own VPN, and the VPN client can successful dial in, but when the VPN connected, they can't access the Internal, the weird thing is they can successful ping outside website, but can't access them with browser. I know the word around solution is to clear the user default gateway on remote network, it actually work, but it will let every client to change the setting, is there any possible way to just change my server configuration to support this feature? Thanks.

    Best regards

  •   No, there is nothing you can do at the server end because the problem is a the client end.

By default, the VPN client changes the default gateway so that everything goes through the VPN connection. The only wat to alter that is to change the setting in the VPN client.

      See KB254231.

  • Hi,

Yes, this issue is due to the route setting on client when VPN connection established .Also take look the KB article below:

You Cannot Connect to the Internet After You Connect to a VPN Server

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/317025

just in case,  we’d also suggest to following the KB below to move remote connection top priority on client side after deselect the default gateway setting:

Cannot Change the Binding Order for Remote Access Connections

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311218

    Thanks.
