  • Question

  • Hi All,

      I'm running a independent  forest/Domain called mybusiness.com.au and got 1 x Exchange 2010 server.

Now we are moving users to access the Head office exchange in  US.

Final goal is to remove this exchange server from AUS.

Now we have configured both exchange in Outlook and forwarding the mail to US exchange. So users can select the address from the both GAL.

     1.  How do i share the GAL between these two non trust domain?

     2.  What is the best way to remove our exchange server without impacting the users? ( business need to shutdown this soon)

Answers

  • 1.  You need some kind of directory synchronization tool, such as Forefront Identity Manager or a lower-cost third-party solution.

    2.  You have to perform a migration of all mailboxes, public folders, services and mailflow to the other server and point users to it.

  • Hi AS,

    Question1:

You can use ILM 2007 FP1 or FIM 2010 to share GAL between two Exchange Organization.

You can know more detail from this document:

FIM 2010: Information about sharing GALs and Free/Busy Information between two Exchange Orgs

    Question2:

From your description, I think you are going to do Exchange 2010 cross-forest migration, you can just follow this document to do the mailbox migration:

    Exchange 2010 Cross-Forest Mailbox Moves
