Additional characters appearing when action owner name data from a list is exported to Excel RRS feed

  • I'm trying to export data from a MOSS 2007 list to a spreadsheet. Two columns have been configured to hold a name which is selected from the SharePoint directory, and set to show as "name (with presence).

    When the list is exported to Excel, the data is displayed as:

    Firstname Lastname #1

    Firstname Lastname #9

    Firstname Lastname #3

    The number changes according to the person but is always shown - the same number is shown every time that person's name appears in the list.

    Other lists on the same sharepoint extract OK with just the name showing in Excel.

    Does anyone know what might be causing this?

  • Hi ,

     

    I understand that when you connect the list to spreadsheet ,the two columns which are defined to hold names of people doesn’t show in their proper format .It is because the column is set to ‘Allow multiple selections’. If you uncheck this selection ,the column will be displayed without the # behind .you can achieve this by doing:

    1.       Site setting>list setting

    2.       Click on the column you want to edit.

    3.       Choose ‘Allow multiple selections’. Click Ok to save the change.

     

    After setting this ,you can only enter one people in the column .

    Do you know what that number correlates to ? is it the order they were added to Sharepoint or O365
