  • Hi Boneysin,

Please double confirm whether Nvidia is your mainboard manufacturer. If not, please let me know the mainboard brand and model.

On the other hand, I suggest you contact your computer manufacturer to ask for recommended sound settings in Windows Vista. As far as I know, some computers need specific sound settings in Windows Vista.

    Thanks.

You say you currently have Windows XP on your computer right now.

Go to the nVidia website and download the Vista drivers for your motherboard.

Burn them to CDR or copy them to a second hard drive (or partition you can access when you reinstall vista)

    Install vista

When you are done installing vista, install the vista drivers for your motherboard chipset and sound card

Go to the nVidia Site and download the PROPER sound drivers.

Microsoft is not required to supply drivers for your motherboard's built-in sound. Do NOT use their drivers. Use the ones from the manufacturer. They are more up-to-date.

  • Hi,

I checked the mainboard on Nvidia website. You can download and install the latest driver from its official website:

    nForce 630i / GeForce 7150

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_630i_610i_vista_16.08.html

Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.

In addition, Nvidia makes mainboard and chipset, please let me know whether Nvidia is your mainboard manufacturer. If not, you need to download sound driver from mainboard manufacturer website. Thank you for your cooperation.

    Hope it helps.

  • Hi Mate...sometimes it says that the device is working properley when it isnt...right click "sound, video, game" in device manager and click on "scan for hardware changes".
    This should correct the problem.
Reply back if you have any success!
