There are many websites referenced to tell one what the gray lock means, but none to tell you how to get rid of it.  Please help!

  • Hi,

You can't..... it is there to visually verify that the site is using a secure protocol (https) with a valid site security certificate..... double click on the lock icon in the address bar to view its details about the site certificate....

If you are having trouble logging into the irs website, try

Tools>Internet Options>Security tab, click "Reset all zones to default", then

click the Trusted Sites icon, sites button and remove the irs website from your trusted sites list.....

Save you changes and close and restart IE for the full changes to take affect.

    Regards.
