IE9 proxy server settings not applying

    Question

  • I've created a group policy on a Server 2012 R2 primary domain controller.

The policy configures the IE9 proxy server settings through

User Configuration > Preferences > Control Panel Settings > Internet Settings > Internet Explorer 8 and 9 > Security > Connections ... I press F5 to enable the settings

The policy is downloaded but never applied even though Group Policy Results show that the Winning GPO is the one I have configured.

    Anyone got any ideas?

This isn't applicable in my environment.

I created a Test OU with no inheritance and applied the GPO that I created into it with the user & computer. The GPO works, so I've concluded that another policy is applying over it.

I moved everything back and stuck Enforce enabled. The weird thing is that even when Enforce is on, the policy doesn't get applied either, and the group policy result wizard shows that the GPO I created wins.

Does the Default Domain Policy take precedent over everything even though Enforce is on? With Enforce, this GPO is above the Default Domain Policy as far as inheritance goes.

I've tried kicking the computer off the domain and rejoining, same result.

    I'm confused.

You said nothing about that, ok. Lets move forward: Which version of IE
    is installed on your clients?
