Error installing Web portals module: "An error occurred while executing a custom action: _StoreActionsAccount" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

When I try to install the Web portal module (for the self service portal), I get to the final window and it says "Setup cannot complete: An error occurred while executing a custom action:_StoreActionsAccount" for the Configure Portal Web Site step.  Before I get the final window, the setup rolls back.  See attached file for the screenshot of error.  The account that I'm using (to login and also when prompted in setup) is the Service Manager Admin account that was used to install everything and has Admin role and permissions.

We are running Service Manager 2010 SP1 on Windows 2008 R2 and SQL 2008 R2.  What is the cause of this error?  In the meantime, I will look at log more....

    Thanks,

    David

  • Andreas,

What is the path for setup.log?  I did a search on C and D drives but cannot find.  I only looked at the Event Viewer/Ops Manager logs and others in EV, but don't see any events related to this issue.

    Thanks,

    David

  • You tried the option "Open Setup Log" of the Setup Wizard (right next to the error message you marked in your screenshot)?

  • Ok, I looked at the setup log, but cannot attach it here.   I can't tell what the issue is.  When I have time to look at it, I will try to paste some of it here.   Is there a way I can attach a copy of the file here?  Thanks.  I will check back on Monday morning 4/15.

  • Ok, I looked at the setup log, and I think the problem is in this section of the log, but I don't know what it means....   Any clues?  Please let me know if you need me to paste any more of the log..... Thanks.

  • Andreas, or anyone else,

Do you have any info you can give me on the above setup log?  I still get the same error and can't install the portal modules.

    Thanks,

    David

  • After a break of a few weeks..... Ok, I found the problem, but I do not know the solution.

When I run setup to install the web portals, setup says the Management Group Name is "SM Admin Group."   However, when I check the name in registry key on the SM server in "HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Operations Manager\3.0\Server Management Groups", it says the name is "SM Mgmt Group"   I setup the latest server a couple of years ago, and made a note that I called it SM Mgmt Group during setup.  I do not recall calling it SM Admin Group.

Why does setup now see the name different? How do I change setup to see the name that is in the actual server registry?!  HELP!

    Thanks,

    David

  • Andreas, or anyone,

Do you have an answer to my question above?  Thanks!  How can I correct the Management Group Name?

    Thanks, David

  • Hi,

I had the same problem, when try to update DW SCSM server. Management  server has "SMGroup" name, "DW" has "DWSMGroup" name. When i try to update, the first (as i understood from MS recommendations) DW server, get same error.
Resolved this problem, by change on update time the registry data
    from "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HealthService\Parameters\Management Groups\DWSMGroup"
    to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HealthService\Parameters\Management Groups\SMGroup"
When update process finished, revert name back.
I hope the decision would help you.
