I downloaded and installed what I thought was Internet Information Services (IIS) 7+ Manager But It Is Not

    Question

  • Windows 10 Pro x64

I downloaded and installed inetmgr_amd64_en-US.msi which is supposed to be Internet Information Services (IIS) 7+ Manager

But when I start IIS7 and click on Start Page it says: Internet Information Services 10

I am unable to use it to connect to remote web sites that I own.  Is this really version 10?  Where do I find version 7?

  • I had IIS7 installed as this was an upgrade from a Windows 7 Pro x64 system.  How do I uninstall IIS10 and get back IIS7?

IIS in an integral of Windows so cannot be replaced by a previous version (like versions of IE). So as my previous post either need to use Windows 7 to manage those websites, or update the legacy websites.

You could post a new thread in the IIS forum explaining your connection issues to the legacy websites to see if anyone has any ideas to help with the connection issues.

  • Windows 10 comes with IIS10 so when that is enabled the IIS Manager is version 10. So the installer for 7 does not install anything as IIS Manager is already present.

If IIS Manager 10 does not connect and you need IIS Manager 7 to connect to legacy websites they you will need to use a different older (Windows 7 I believe) OS.

  • Uninstall or change a program lists:
Internet Information Services (IIS) 7+ Manager
    Installed on: 4/13/2017
    Version: 7.1.0.0

However, if I click on it it asks if I want to uninstall 10.

I will try the IIS forum.
