testing self certified drivers RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am updating a older application to run under Windows 7. There is a user interface that runs on the PC and drivers the talk to a USB device. The USB drivers are in the WinQual process so I am using self certified drivers using the “Kernel mode code signing walkthrough”. Can I use a self certified version of Windows 7 with the Windows 7 logo toolkit?

  • Hi BarberColman,

Yes you can use the self certified versions with a limitation of only internal testing purpose.
However for the official side you are supposed to use the Signed drivers only.
All the Self certified versions of drivers will be treated as unsigned while installation and will result to a failure officially.

    Hope above Helps.

    Kind regards
