MD5 Hash in SharePoint 2010 for filter values RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am trying to pass filters from one dashboard to another dashboard (see related link: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/ppsmonitoringandanalytics/thread/0a3c02da-5647-4f99-b7a4-b119c3e54c65 on this topic). When I computed Hash Value for a string using System.Security.CryptoGraphy.MD5, it doesn't match the value that SharePoint 2010 generated Hash.

    For example, a string "CAD" is translated as 72DE084F5B6A4E0BCBBF348E2A4A09EF by SharePoint. But my code below produces ECCB0954FCA9F2005AEA084605DF5EE9

    System.Security.Cryptography.MD5 md5Hasher = System.Security.Cryptography.MD5.Create();
    byte[] data = md5Hasher.ComputeHash(Encoding.Default.GetBytes("CAD"));

    Any ideas on how I can generate the MD5 Hash value that matches SharePoint generated value ?
