    There's more to it than this. There are databases that need to be transactionally consistent as well. If all those databases are on the same server that you're taking a snapshot of, I would expect this to work. If not, I would not expect this to work correctly.

    What is it that you're trying to achieve by using snapshots?

    I kind of thought that was understood as basic multitier restore.  I was simply answering the SNAPSHOT direct question.
