  • Question

  • Hi all,

Some of our employees have been migrated from Outlook to Gmail.

Outgoing Emails work fine for Outlook and Gmail users

Incoming Emails work for Outlook users but does not work for Gmail Users.

    How can I fix this?

  • I'm sorry, I left out the details.

My SharePoint site is internal (Intranet ... .pvt) and Gmail is external.

    Is this possible?

  • It will be possible if gmail can deliver the mails to the local SMTP server of the farm. All you need to do is make sure that the mails are being delivered to the local drop folder in your SMTP. Once the mail is there, SharePoint will pick it up.

Also make sure that in the incoming email settings in Central Admin, you have updated the email domain.

  • Hi All,

    Really need some help.

SharePoint 2007 - internal (sits in dmz)

    Gmail - in the cloud.

Do we need to create a public dns for it to work?  No other way around?  I've been looking all over and can't seem to find a solution for this.

Currently, we have be below setup but for temporarily only as a workaround.  Eventually Outlook will go away and we need a solution asap.

    ·         External users from gmail, yahoo, Hotmail should be able to send email to internal SharePoint doc libraries & lists.
    ·         Created a contact in exchange for doclib@sharepointserver.domain.com
    ·         Created a distribution group and added this contact as a member. The email address for the DL is doclib@domain.com
    ·         Created a send connector in exchange server to for sharepointserver.domain.com and relay it to the SharePoint server.
    ·         Installed SMTP connector in the SharePoint server for sharepointserver.domain.com
Hence when an external server sends an email it will received by doclib@domain.com and forwarded to SharePoint using the send connector. It works great (at least till now, client has not complained about anything!)
