Editing sharepoint documents over the internet RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a WSS 3.0 site that my company uses for its intranet - I have recently created the dns entries and the appropriate firewall adjustments for https://extranet.domain.com - so users can log in just on the internet, through our isa firewall, be forwarded to the sharepoint site, and all user authentication from the isa firewall seems to work just fine for the sharepoint site.

Until you go to edit a document, then you get hit with a logon prompt every time. Inside our network, this is not a problem at all.

Any ideas on how I could remedy this?

  • I suspect the problem is that when you are inside the network you are accessing the document using a computer that is authenticated to the domain.  When you are outside the network you are on a computer that isn't authenticated.  Its the underlying computer authentication that is the problem.  I don't think there is anything you can do about it.
