SharePoint Designer Workflow 2010 with SharePoint 2013 Server- Support End Date RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear All,

We are using SharePoint 2013 however all workflow is created on SharePoint Designer 2010. As per Microsoft SharePoint Designer Workflow 2010 End Date Support is 13 Oct 2020. Just wanted to know because we are using SharePoint 2013 so for the designer workflow 2010 End Date will be same 13 Oct 2020 OR it will be consider End Date Support 7/14/2026 like SharePoint Designer 2013. We have plan to migrate all workflow to MS Flow but due to support is going to end for Designer Workflow 2010 on Oct 2020 I'm scared and posting this question.

  • Hi, SP2013Devp,

The Support end date for SharePoint Designer 2010 is 10/13/2020. After that you will not receive any update from Microsoft for SharePoint Designer 2010. And no support will be provide any more.

If you are using 2010 workflow created in SharePoint Designer 2013 which is having extended support date till 04/11/2023 just like you say, you shall still be able to create support ticket about the issue using SharePoint Designer 2013.

    Best Regards

  • support end date for SharePoint Designer 2010 is Oct 13th, 2020. but you can still use 2010 workflows in SharePoint 2013 after Oct 13th, 2020 as well. It just stops supporting which means there won't be any upgrades after that but you can still use them.

  • Hi, SP2013Devp,

    Quote from MS announcement:

SharePoint Server support for SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2013 workflows
SharePoint 2010 and SharePoint 2013-based workflows will continue to be supported for on-premises SharePoint 2016 and SharePoint 2019 Server platforms until 2026.

    SharePoint Designer 2013
SharePoint 2010 workflow creation with SharePoint Online using SharePoint Designer 2013 will be turned off for any newly created tenants starting August 2020 and existing tenants starting November 2020. SharePoint Designer 2013 will work with SharePoint Server 2019 for the remainder of the client support lifecycle (2026). SharePoint Designer 2013 will not be supported beyond that timeframe.

As you are using SharePoint 2013, so using SharePoint designer 2013 shall still be fine.

  • Thanks for your reply. However, I'm still confuse.

Can you please advice what will be the Support End Date for SharePoint Designer 2010 considering I'm using SharePoint Designer 2010 on SharePoint Server 2013 Service Pack 1 which is having extended support date till 04/11/2023. Can I get support from Microsoft till 04/11/2023 if I create any ticket to Microsoft for SharePoint Designer workflow 2010 which I'm using currently on SharePoint 2013. Please advice

Note:- I've created SharePoint 2010 workflow using SharePoint Designer 2013

  • Hi

    As per your query,

SharePoint 2010 workflows will be retired in 2020

For customers using SharePoint 2010 workflows, we recommend migrating to Power Automate during 2020 to maintain continuity in any business process.

    • Starting August 1st, 2020, SharePoint 2010 workflows will be turned off for newly created tenants
    • Starting November 1st, 2020, Microsoft will begin to remove the ability to run or create SharePoint 2010 workflows from existing tenants

These workflows are either custom SharePoint Designer workflows that were created in 2010 OR the old standard Approval/Collect Feedback/Disposition workflows. We could either move these workflows to 2013 WF (not recommended) or rebuild them in either Power Automate or Nintex.

Can we connect over a quick call to see if we can be of any help around your Migration and also providing the best solution after hearing about you. Please send over an email if you are interested in a discussion.
