Internet Explorer 11 settings from GPO.

    Question

  • Hello Experts!!!!

I need help to understand the issue,

Description : I am creating a test GPO to configure the IE11 settings from Win2k12 server, with below steps.

    1. User Configurations->Preferences->Control Panel Setting->Internet Settings
    2. Then I right clicked and selected "Internet Explorer 10" and configured different settings.
    3. Linked this GPO to OU where userid exists.
    4. ran gpupdate /force and the GPO is applied.
    5. ran gpresult /h report.html, when opening this report I saw below entry. Instead of showing Internet Explorer 10 it is showing Internet Explorer 5 and 6.

Can anyone please help me here to understand why this arrowd entry is showing as "Internet Explorer 5 and 6 " ? ideally it should display Internet Explorer 10 or something like this.

    Thanks in advance.

That's ok - minor bug in the RSoP engine :)

  • Thanks for your reply Martin.!!!

Is there any possibility that there is something missing?. or needs to be configured additionly on the machine or on the server?.

Because my customer will probably have issues with this behavior in report. Please advise.

    Thanks

Why? It is a bug in the reporting engine, nothing else...

  • Thanks Martin for your reply.

I missed one thing to mention that on machine (with IE11)when I am pulling out the gpresult  report, all those IE11 settings are missing, means IE11 newly added settings are not showing in the report.

However at the same time, on gpmc console on Win2k12 server the settings are visible in settings tab of my test GPO of IE11 Settings.

is there any patch\KB or anything required on the client machine, I am stuck in my task. Please help.

W7 doesn't know about IE11 settings - the highest IE version in GPP it
understands is the one it shipped with - IE8.

  • Thanks Martin for your reply!!

So if Windows 7 doesn't know about IE11, Is there any solution to do this job?.

    Thanks

  • I have tried to pull the report from the server this time of the same user with the same machine(On which I have applied the IE11 GPO settings), I have found that the IE10 option is visible and all settings are getting applied on the client machine.

Server(Win2k12) generated report shows IE10 but if we run the report on the the machine Win7, it shows IE 5 and 6.

Seems to be issue with the Windows 7. Thanks
