    Hi folks,

     

    Despite trying-out and experimenting I am getting very confused about Enterprise V local global v views within a project. Could anyone help to clarify?

     

    1. If I open a project from Server 2010 and customize a view within it - is it available when I open the project somewhere else (different computer)? Where was that change stored?

    2. Does the change mentioned above effect the eGlobal or Local Global?

    3. Is the view changed forever can it be reverted from LG or eG?

    4. LG is only used when P2010 is opened using "Computer" profile?

    5. eG is only used when P2010 is opened connected to PS2010?

    4. How can I copy a view from a local (non enterprise project) to the eG?

    Everything you do is in the local Global.Mpt file, unless you specifically edit teh Enterprise Global. Typically only Admin can do that.

    Best practice is to set up Views, Tables etc in a local file, then copy to Enterprise Global. Don't create/edit Views etc with teh Enterprise Global open.

    Pratrap,

    The Enterprise Global is only loaded when a user opens Project Pro 2010 with a server profile, connecting to Project Server.

    In addition to what Rod already said, you can use the Organizer from the Project Pro backstage view (under Info) to copy views from any local MPP to the checked-out Enterprise Global.
