Outlook 2010 on Exchange Wants to Open a PST file when connecting to Shared Calendar. How to fix? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We recently archived my boss' old emails to PST files.  Now, each time he goes to the shared calendar Outlook wants to open a PST file from those archives!  Outlook 2010 on an exchange server, with shared calendar!  I can't find anything on the net of those who may have similar issues.  Currently, compacting the OST file and will also do a repair, but anyone have any ideas of why we're having this issue all of the sudden?

    Thank you!

  • Hi,

    >>Now, each time he goes to the shared calendar Outlook wants to open a PST file from those archives!

What do you mean by “Outlook wants to open a PST file from those archives”?

Does a window pop up when accessing shared calendar?

    Are there any error messages?

Normally, for Exchange account in cached Exchange mode, items of shared calendar are saved in your local OST file. What if we set to disable caching for shared folders to see if it helps. Please check steps below:

    1. Go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.

    2. Double click your account and then click More Settings.

    3. Under Advanced tab, untick the option “Download shared folders”.

    4. Restart Outlook to see the results.

Besides, would you mind providing more details with this issue? You could also share a screenshot here for further research.
