GP is not replicating from windows 2008 to windows 2012 R2

    Question

  • Hi All,

I have recently migrated our Active Directory from windows 2008 to windows 2012 R2. After moving all FSMO roles to new server had observed that group policy templates are not replicating between 2008 to 2012 R2 domain controllers. The policy implemented in server 2012 R2 not showing in server 2008 and same vice versa.

Kindly suggest how to resolve this issue.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

    Thanks for your post.

Regarding the issue, I would suggest you to run dcdaig on your domain controller and post the results here.

Also check for any of the Event ID in event Viewer and post them here. Check the NTFRS/DFSR (whatever you use) event logs. Most common case is: Replication mechanism is NTFRS, and there's a journal wrap error. Search for "burflags D2" on how to fix that.

Try disabling the AV and Local Windows firewall ( If it is enabled) then check.

Also you can try forcing the sysvol replcaiton between the domain controllers.

  • Hi,

Thanks for your reply. One more question that if I configure DFSR instead of FSR for SYSVOL replication.

Please guide that DFSR is recommended to use as a replication service between domain controller?

    Thanks

  • Hi,

    Please check the below article:

The Case for Migrating SYSVOL to DFSR

    https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/askds/2010/04/22/the-case-for-migrating-sysvol-to-dfsr/

For FRS to DFS migration we uses the Dfsrmig.exe utility. More info about it available on the following article:

    Dfsrmig
