  • Question

  • Hi There

We're having som problems with owa access. To start with it the was no owa access, even through it at some point in time worked. We tried to restart exchagne + IIS services, but with no luck. The we tried uninstalling/reinstallting OWA following the MSKB 941201, this made is possible to logon to OWA again, but all graphics is screwed. Anyone have an idea to solve this ?

  • Hi

Exch 2007 SP1 is out of support and you will only get "limited support" from MSFT so you should go to SP3 at least & apply the latest RU.

I would do this 1st. Do read the Read Me notes.

Second, the OS is supported, you don't need R2 - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff728623(EXCHG.141).aspx

Ideally, it would be good to have Exch installed on a dedicated server rather than installing it on a DC (this is actually recommended).

If you decide to take this route, then I would install a new server with Exch 2007 SP3 + latest RU and then move services/data to that server. Then uninstall Exch 2007 SP1.  Doing this will more than likely solves your OWA permissions issues as well as have a supported env and best practise deployement.

  • Hi Kim,

Is your meaning the owa can't be logged on randomly ?

Please check IIS log and confirm what's the reason .

  • Exchange 2007 is running on Server 2003 x64, is running "stand alone" no frontend. It is possible to logon to OWA again after following the MSKB 941201, but the graphic layout is damaged, as You can se bellow.

  • This is due to the permissions which have been messed up, there are a few places which need to be checked.

If you have another 2007 server compare the permissions on the update directory in IIS and set appropiately.

Has that update been removed & can you confirm the Exchange SP and RU version?

  • Hi Sukh

I'll Check IIS persmissions, I can only compare to SBS 2008 server, and its a Win 2003 x64 with Exchange 2007 that has the problem. I'll check SP also.

  • Hi Sukh

Im having problems comparing 2008 SBS IIS permissions, since it looks quite different from "old" 2003 IIS :(

The Exchange 2007 server is SP1 with RU 1,2,6,8,9,10. It is running on a normal server 2003 x64 SP2 (not R2), that also is the only DC (theres also a 2003 R2 TS, a 2008 SQL and a 2003 R2 Fileserver). I'm not to fond of that the DC is not R2, could I have problems inst. SP3 for Exchange 2007 (I seem to remember something about schema update that req. 2003 R2). Maybe the only way to get SP3 for exchange 2007 is to transfer DC to one of the R2 servers (i assume, that would upgrade the schema) and then install SP3

So if anyone could supply me with IIS permissions for Exchange 2007 OWA on 2003 server i would be happy :)
