  Here's the official response from Microsoft regarding the Fab 40 templates: http://blogs.technet.com/b/tothesharepoint/archive/2010/08/18/sharepoint-2010-products-upgrade-and-the-fabulous-40-application-templates.aspx

  While Microsoft will not be releasing new versions of these templates, the article does describe upgrade options for the existing templates. Also, there are some available from the link Alpesh referred to in his answer.
