The Audio Service Is Not Running

Question
-
Hi,
I have an Asus running Windows 8 that I got less than a year ago. Recently, I've been getting an error when trying to play audio. It tells me that "The Audio Service is not running." When I troubleshoot it tells me that "one or more audio service isn't running," and when I hover over it for more information it tells me that Windows Audio and/or Windows Audio Endpoint Builder are not running. I went into services to try to fix it myself.
First I tried to start Windows Audio Services but it told me it couldn't be started.
the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) seemed to be working.
the Multimedia Class Scheduler was not running but when I tried to start it it told me that it wouldn't start in a timely fashion so it couldn't be started.
The Windows Audio Endpoint Builder seemed to be running.
I'm not sure how to proceed from here.
Thanks

if you don't have quarantine virus, my suggestion step will be, uninstall AVG with AVG removal, restart PC, and perform system restore, if you want to install back AVG, find the latest version at software manufactured site

if you have AVG, go to quarantine file and right click and restore audio service file from there
if you don't have AVG, try to perform system restore, or you can also try to perform clean boot and running system file checker

I have AVG however, I'm not seeing the audio drivers in the quarantine/virus vault. I am a little hesitant to start restoring things from there. My speakers were working on the 20th and the most recent quarantined item (not including one from today) is from the 15th when I ran a scan to see if a virus was what was messing with my audio services.Wednesday, April 1, 2015 5:14 AM
