Screen Flicker and PnP Events RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hello

I notice that everytime there is a PnP event (plug/unplug) the screen flickers (on->off->on) exactly once. This happens with Zune plug/unplug, smartcard reader plug/unplug, USB key plug/unplug and login (after hibernate, etc). I have Vista Sp1, with latest updates and the display card is NVdia GeForce 6200 latest drivers (7.15.11.7824).

I tried changing screen resolutions, etc but to no avail. The display connected to the device is a CRT (Nokia 447L) which works well with all other PCs. It is a non-PnP monitor that connects via VGA adaptor.

I was wondering if this is a known issue...Any help or guidence to correct this would help.

  • Hi Vishal,

    Thank you for posting.

First of all, could you please test the issue in Safe Mode? Does the issue occurs in Safe Mode?

Then, I suggest you take a clean boot to test the issue in Normal Mode.

    Clean Boot

    =============================

    1. Click Start, type "MSCONFIG" (without the quotations) in the Search Bar and Press "Enter" to start the System Configuration Utility.

    2. Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).

    3. Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".

    4. Restart the computer and test the issue.

Note: Clean Boot is a troubleshooting step. If some programs have been disabled, we can re-enable them later. If you see the System Configuration Utility, check the box of "Don't show this message" and then click "OK".

Please monitor the system in the Clean Boot environment. If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to one application or service we have disabled. You may use the MSCONFIG tool again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to find out the culprit.

    Hope it helps.

I also would like to know, as I have the same issue with every usb device I plug in. I get multiple monitor "on-off-on" events, as many as 3 at a time.
