Exchange 2007 - Outlook Anywhere stopped working RRS feed

  • Question

  • Exchange 2007 SP3, Windows Server 2008

    Not sure what caused it but our OA has decided to take a holiday. On MS connectivity analyzer it fails on, "Attempting to ping RPC endpoint 6004 (NSPI Proxy Interface)". I can telnet to 6001, 6002, and 6004 just fine locally. Tried disabling and re-enabling and rebooting the server.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Edit - When I use RPCping externally I get the following results...

    Port 6001
    RPCPing v2.12. Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation, 2002

  • Hello,

    [Check the 6004 port settings in registry]

    ==============================

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeSA\Parameters

    Value name: HTTP Port

    Value type: REG_DWORD

    Value data: 0x1772 (Decimal 6002)

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeSA\Parameters

    Value name: Rpc/HTTP NSPI Port

    Value type: REG_DWORD

    Value data: 0x1774 (Decimal 6004)

    [Check NSPI interface protocol sequences]

    ==============================

    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\NTDS\Parameters

    Type: REG_MULTI_SZ

    Name: NSPI interface protocol sequences

    Value: ncacn_http:6004

    If it still does not work, please use the following commands to check if other applications are listening on the 6004 port.

    Netstat –ano

    Tasklist

    Thanks,

    Simon Wu

  • Simon, thanks for your reply - sorry I was away.

    I have the first two keys but I did not find the 'NSPI interface protocol sequences'.Should I just add that in and test? ...do I need to reboot?
