Cant find groups.. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a setup now with 6 virtual machines, 1DC, 1xSP2013, 1xSQL2012, 1xLync2013, 1xWebApps, 1xExchange. In the DC i have added a OU lets call it domain_ou. Under here i have created more OUs, 1 for each "department" and here i have added another OU for Users and one for Groups.. I've added users and then some groups.. Now here comes the problem;

    WHen I add new sites and are going to set permissions (Visitor, MEmber etc) i can find USERS and add one and one.. BUt i cant find the groups so that i can add a group to the permission list?

  • Make sure that your groups are security groups in AD and not Distribution groups.

  • Is the site configured as FBA if so please make sure to add the RoleManager defined for groups in the web.config

    also try searching groups as "domain\groupname". even you can check whether the groups are getting from central admin via manage webapplication-> policy option aswell.

  • And to add to that if you're using FBA you can't wildcard search.  GrpChic won't work if your group name is GrpCHicken

    Hope This Helps!
