Mitel SIP Trunk - Lync RRS feed

  • Question

  • hey everybody

there is a Mitel 3300 ICP here , I wonder if anyone could tell me if  SIP Trunking with Lync is possible

I know that direct SIP is supported http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/lync/gg131938.aspx but I think in this case we need LBG as well which we don't have and don't wanna buy it,I tried it with OCS2007 and it works

and how can I get detail information ?is there any Mitel Config guide?do anyone experience this ?

    thank you guys

  • Actually there is.  It's behind a Mitel login wall, but I was able to grab it somewhere.

First, you will need the Microsoft doc.  It's Chapter 5 here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=22644

The Mitel Doc that coincide with this is Document # MSA 3PP 11-5159-00074.  You will have to ask your Mitel tech for this.

It's called "Configure MCD 4.2 for use with Microsoft Lync 2010".  MCD 4.2 is the new software version running on the Mitel ICP 3300.

This is the only link I found when I did a Google search.  I wish I could find the PDF for you.

  • thank you Sean Xiao

as you can see on that article exactly in Infrastructure Requirements part, we need LBG(live Business Gateway) which we do not need it in sip trunking scanario!

  • The article I wrote that Sean linked to relates to RCC only, not SIP trunking.

If you're looking to get SIP trunking working, you'll need SIP licenses first from Mitel for this, but it's a pretty straightforward setup to get the ICP talking to Lync.

I can't help with the Mitel side of configuration, but I know they support SIP/TCP so a Direct SIP connection will work with Lync. Your best bet is to get some help from a PBX engineer skilled with Mitel to setup that side of the integration.

  • Anyone know of a consultant or firm who specializes in this kind of Mitel-Lync connectivity?

  • Generally any Lync consultant with SIP trunking/voice integration skills should be able to achieve this.
