SFB On-Premise Integration error with Exchange Online RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I did a lot of research on this issue, but I couldn't find a solid solution that will help me solve this problem. I am running an Skype for Business Server 2015 on premise with an Edge Server, and a WAP server for Reverse Proxy. Our email is hosted in Office 365 (Exchange online). The issue is with integration, it works for some users, and it doesn't for some. When a user signs into SFB, after a little bit an exclamation icon shows up at the bottom right corner of SFB app. When clicked on, it says outlook integration error. A picture of the error is attached.  Any suggestions on what may cause this error? Does anyone run a solution like this? Curious to know who else runs an environment like this.

  • Hi Matt RudoIf,

Please check if your SIP domain address different with your SMTP address , if so , try to  configure Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity name -DisableEmailComparisonCheck $true

For client side, please try as following:

    1.Start regedit.exe

    2.Go to “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Communicator” or “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Lync”

3.Right click and select New >> DWORD Value

    4.Type “DisableEmailComparisonCheck” and press Enter

    5.Set the
value of the it to “1”

6.Restart the Outlook and Lync clients

  • Did  you also configured the integration part between SFB and Exch Online as per the technet

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh533880.aspx

Here in this scenario , which version of Outlook  do you have in the system, Can you also check Configuration Info ( System Tray- SFB Client -Right Click -Configuration) Do you see the EWS value populated there.

  • Hello Linus,

Thanks for taking the time to help with this issue. I have some users running outlook 2016 and some running outlook 2013.

For example, I am running Office 2016, my SFB app is integrated with exchange online as I can see the conversation history, calendar, and user's pictures. Below is a screenshot of my SFB config. EWS says it is OK, MAPI is unavailable for some reason, and UC Connectivity state says Exchange connection Down.

Now another user in my environment running office 2013, his SFB app is showing the exclamation mark, and the config is below. He cannot see conversation history, calendar, or user's pictures. EWS says not fully initialized,  MAPI is unavailable, and UC Connectivity state says Exchange connection Down.

    Hello,

I am not at the point to setup UM yet as I have to setup call via work first. Is this necessary to setup, if all I want is SFB and Exchange online integration to see user's pictures, conversation history, and outlook calendar? Please advise.

  • Update:

I tried the third suggestion by Eason Huang. Although my SIP domain and SMTP domain are the same, I did run the cmdlet to see if it will make a difference. After running the cmdlet in FE server and letting it finish replication, I went back to the client side to check if it is fixed. The exclamation point is gone, but unfortunately, SFB is still not integrated with Exchange online.  Checked the config and I am seeing the same config as before.

    Some other information:

I have internal domain .local and external domain.com. I am running split brain DNS.

  • Update 2:

The exclamation icon is back and now the config says EWS not deployed.

  • Hi,

From your description, it seems that something mistake for the integration between SFB On-Premise and Exchange Online.

Please double check the step below as Holger provided:

    https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/nexthop/2016/03/29/integrate-on-premise-lync-or-skype-for-business-with-office-365-unified-messaging-um/

    Then test again.

    Best Regards
