Random selection of Deck Back in Solitaire (xp) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi .. I know in advance of asking .. this seems trivial, but ……!

I was fiddling around with Solitaire (from XP) and I clicked on something that allowed me to choose the back picture on the cards. Now each time the game is opened, it is always on that one picture and I have to manually change if I want another.

Prior to that, the deck back picture was chosen randomly and changed with each hand.

I am not the person who plays solitaire on this pc and I have taken away something from the person who does regularly play, enjoyed.

Can anyone help me undo my fiddling .. so that the ‘deck’ opens to a different picture with each hand?

    thanks

  • when you choose to change the back of a deck, windows creates a registry key and stores the value.you have to delete the created key to get the initial random deck picture effect.

to do this, click start>run>type regedit, this pens the windows registry.

in the tree to the left, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Solitaire.

under this key.you'l see two values; (default) and "back", rightclick "back" and select delete, select yes, you want to delete. Now your deck back will be randomly selected by windows!
