Getting error "cannot create a file when that file already exists" when running mklink RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm following the instructions on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2506015 and when I run the mklink command, I'm getting an error "cannot create a file when that file already exists"

My exact command is mklink /j "c:\FASTSearch\data" "d:\FASTSearch\data"

I tried using %FASTSEARCH%. %FASTSEARCH% echos to c:\FASTSearch. I tried with and without the double quotes. I've tried with the data directory contents copied, as per the instructions. I've tried with an empty d:\FASTSearch\data. I've tried everything. What file is it that already exists?

    Any help is appreciated.

I've done this same thing on other servers and it worked. There's just something about this particular server.
