Project Server - Project Site Creation Failure RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I am working with Project Server 2010 and made basic modification to site template. Basic meaning only quick launch has been modified. No modifications to issues, risks, document library etc...

I save the site as template, attached it to EPT, create a project using this EPT and get the following error JOb failure error in Queue:

CreateWssSiteContent: Creating project site failed! Project Uid=<>, site URL=<> site name=<>. • Hi,

I was being silly. I didn't realise that project sites are stored in different site collection and not in PWA. It worked when I created a brand new site template using OOTB Microsoft Project Site Template, downloaded the solution file then uploaded the solution to site collection for project sites.

Thanks Rouyre for your input and apologies for wasting your time!

    Kind regards,

    SJ

  • Hi SJ_EPM,

Have you checked for the ULS log error message that might be more explicite?

Then did you create any content types? Delete any default lists? When you say that you only modified the quick launch menu, what exactly did you do?

Check also for those similar posts:

  • Hi Rouyre,

Modifed - meaning links hidden in Quick Launch. I just tested by creating a brand new project site template using MS Project site template - nothing changed at all. I saved it as site template. Created a project using new site template and same issue again. It doesn't seem to be any changes made to the site template is causing the issue - Project Server is not liking any other site template besides out of the box one. Which is very wierd.

I will look at the links you provided. Thanks!

ULS logs pretty much saying the same thing.
