  • That's not enough details ... is SQL local or remote? Which SP and CU level? etc

  • Dear All,

    Following is the SQL related information :-

    • SQL server 2008 R2 SP1 CU6
    • Instance name default (MSSQLSERVER)
    • TCP enabled on 1443 Dynamic ports disabled.
    • Named pipe enabled.
    • user login set as domain admin which is admin for local system.

    Need help as have been stuck on SCCM Installation where SQL server is not able to fetch the instance name could it be a issue related to named apipe, I have set all TCP/IP to listen to 1433 with dynamic ports disabled. and logs show the following.

    INFO: This isn't an input for named SQL Server.  $$<Configuration Manager Setup><08-23-2012 18:18:04.927-330><thread=628 (0x274)>

    INFO: SQL Server instance name (pSetupInf->SqlInstName):   $$<Configuration Manager Setup><08-23-2012 18:18:04.927-330><thread=628 (0x274)>

    then logs fetches for the database related instance information. I leave instance related information blank as I havent specifed any named instance.

    Failed to retrieve SQL Server instance name[MSSQLSERVER].  $$<Configuration Manager Setup><08-23-2012 18:18:04.927-330><thread=628 (0x274)>
