Import Problem RRS feed

  • Question

  •  We are trying to setup a redundent IAS server and want to export the settings from our current IAS server to our failover, but when I import it doesn't do anything. I looked though the XML file that the origonal IAS server exported and the settings are there, but when I import it and go into server manager it tells me that Routing and Remote Access hasn't been configured. Any idea? Do I need to just give it a basic configuration on the failover and then import? Or what?

  • Hi,

OK so both servers are NPS then. It sounds like you are trying export RRAS settings rather than NPS policies, RADIUS clients, etc. I don't think importing NPS settings with that procedure will affect RRAS configuration at all. These are totally separate role services under NPAS (network policy and access services).

If you are looking to configure RRAS on your failover server, I think you need to use the netsh ras dump and netsh exec commands.

    netsh ras dump > file.txt
    netsh exec file.txt

    Is this what you need?
