Print Server issue after June 2014 patches applied. (Windows 2008 R2) Print Spooler crashes RRS feed

  • Question

  • We patched our Windows 2008 R2 boxes this Sunday, and the Spooler service is not staying up.

It seems to start, then fails.

No printers show in Printers and faxes, and the Printing Role widget fails due to the spooler service not running.

    sfc /scannow detects no errors.

After restarting the server: I see the following in the event logs.

    1) 8:30:42AM

Faulting application name: spoolsv.exe, version: 6.1.7601.17777, time stamp: 0x4f35fc1d

  • Update: Removing June 2104 patches had no effect.

Renaming the faulting module LMADNLANG.DLL.old seems to have resolved the issue (at least at brief glance).

The Print Spooler now functions, as do a large number of printers, including the Lexmark one near me.

  • Hi AM20,

I have had many issues with the Langmon file from Lexmark from their older drivers. This can cause the print spooler to hang, crash and other annoying issues. In the end it will be impossible to use the print server for... printing!

This is not resolved, per say, but the latest versions of the Lexmark drivers comes without the Langmon as it is irrelevant...

    I hope this helps you.
