Windows XP Pro SP3 - VPN error 721 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Windows XP Pro SP3 machine. Just starting today it cannot connect to a VPN server it has always been connecting to. User name and password are fine for I can connect to the same server with another computer with the same user name. Nothing on the server side has been changed. No updates have been made on the client side either. It connects to the server and errors out on verifying user name and password. A reset (power off and on) has been done to modem, router, and computer still with no success. Also no error in eventvwr are coming up during the process of failing. Firewall is also off on both the computer and router. VPN pass through is enabled on the Linksys router. Just for troubleshooting purposes I have enabled DMZ for the IP of this computer so all ports are open. Any other ideas of whats going on?

  • This has been solved... I know I have checked the windows firewall. However sure enough it was enabled when I decided to check it again.

  • One suggestion: If your VPN is using certificates check to see if they have expired.

    Good luck!

  • No not for the VPN. All other certs expire in 2016.
