Psexec execution related concern RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Team,

We are facing below concern with Psexec execution at clinet side,

    1. Suppose domain name has an alias (i.e. abc-test for abc.test.com), in command line it has "user@abc-test.com" which causing the issue.
    2. Special characters ( ) : , " ' \ { }  in service user account password causing issue while running psexe command.

Can any one have solution on how to deal with this sepcal character if it comes in domain name or password ?

As this is at client end, we may not ask them to update any settings.

    Thanks

  •  which causing the issue.

What is the issue? What error do you get?

Put the password in quotes.    "pass-word"

  • Also, for point 1 why cannot you use the standard syntax Domain\user.. may be the old domain name doesn't contain special characters..

for the password I always thought that psexec rely on the Operating system to handle special characters in password and it doesn't perform any check on the characters content.. so, what is the error? and can you please provide steps to repro? Including OS versions in use..

    Thanks

  • Using DomainNETBiosName\UserName is the best option for PSExac
