  • In this thread, I see that, Trevor's reply has been proposed as answer ( I did receive an alert mail ) however, I don't see who has proposed that ?

It appears that,  this bug is limited only to msdn brand, I can see who has proposed  a reply as answer in technet forums.

  • The titlebar of the Window used to clearly denote the Forum whose threads I am viewing. When looing at this:

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/home?forum=csharpgeneral

The Title Bar of the tab would read "Visual C# Forum" (or somethign like that).

Right now it reads "MSDM Forums" (uisng Firefox, though that should have no impact. We talk about title here).

    Let's talk about MVVM: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wpf/thread/b1a8bf14-4acd-4d77-9df8-bdb95b02dbe2

  • Hello Santos ,

The loss of from which forum a thread has been moved is not new ( maybe 2 months ).

But it is an useful information to avoid to move again a thread in the original forum.

I have not moved today any thread so I don't know whether the name of the "mover" is missing. If it is true , it is awful ( at least ) , or maybe stupid ( sorry for the team who has modified the display of the forums )

I would be curious to know how this team has chosen what they have modified and whether it has tried to ask the opinion of users ( like moderators or active repliers ). I don't think so.

    Have a nice day

  • With IE ... the browser hang often indefinitely when click "Submit"

with IE ... when expanding a long thread, the few last posts appear on top of the other threads .. It is unreadable.

With IE ... when clicking a check box to select which forum thread I want to see, the browser freeze for several seconds. Sometime long enough to get the message "Internet Explorer has stop responding ..."

    ------------

With Chrome, I don't have those bugs ...

May be the Forum team should talk with IE team ... Or the IE team team should ask Google, Look like they know better

  • I haven't seen anyone else comment on this, so I'll add in the fact that clicking on the Next button does not snap the page view back to the top of the list. I get my next 20 threads, but I'm starting at the bottom of the list. That theoretically wouldn't be as bad if there was a way to move to the next 20 threads at the top of the list, but alas....

    Thursday, June 20, 2013 12:45 AM
  • This isn't new, but every now and again instead of seeing "Question" at the top of a thread and "Vote" in the vote box, I'm seeing foreign language equivalents. This happened very rarely (in my experience) in the old UX, but it appears to be more prevalent now. For example, I just opened up 20 threads from the PowerShell forum. 4 of them are showing foreign languages (all different).

  • a way to move to the next 20 threads at the top of the list

In what context?  OIC.  I think that's a good feature.   E.g. it means you can navigate several pages back without having to scroll to the bottom each time you want to go to the next page.   So, once you have reached your destination, just press Ctrl-Home.   Alternatively, if you want to go to a particular page directly, notice that the &page= value is at the end of the URL in the Address bar, thus permitting an easy override.   E.g. in IE, Alt-d, End, Ctrl-Backspace, new number, Enter.   And that does put you at the top as you wanted.

Indeed, that is possible. I don't believe that should be necessary, but it is possible. The ability to jump multiple pages ahead should most likely (I sure hope anyway) be returned to us, based on the amount of complaints I've seen about it.

Regardless, I'm much more likely to only want to move a single page ahead when I click the Next button (~90% of the time would be my guess), so I'd rather see this behavior adjusted.

(Not) Suprisingly after clicking the next page link this last thread hadn`t been there anymore. After deleting the test question the last thread is on the first page again. I wonder where it had been in the meantime ? Go to land of Oz ?

Do you see edits as well? Or who marked an answer/when it was marked?

That information needs to be shown to us normal people as well. I generally trust an answer that was marked by the OP, I verify an answer that was marked by a mod.

  • I see a couple of bugs in chrome when use add to my forums functionality:

I cannot add a forum, remove it and then add from the view all page. Last time when I tried to add it simply does nothing.

I select a forum which is not available in the my forums list and it shows 'remove from my forums'. I suppose its taking it as already added.

    Multiple selection not working.

    Adding not working sometimes

  • They don't want the general public to see who marked the Answers.

This way, they can have their contractors mark every thread Answered with wholesale abandon to inflate the site metrics, and nobody (except insiders) can tell.

    flätѕəm,

That's a wrong perception. Forums are not just moderated by insiders, community members do moderate forums  ( I am one of them, I am not an insider or a MS employee !).  It's just a bug and I presume that, it will be fixed soon.

  • Where are all the threads in between ?? How can we access them ?

Perhaps it is an illusion caused by faulty timestamp differences?  E.g. are you sure about when you replied to those?  One way to check might be to get an RSS feed which has at least 40 messages in it (e.g. at least twice the size of a message list page).  I think that although the RSS feed shows the OP for content it at least shows the latest update for a timestamp.

Yuck.  The update time is there but IE doesn't show it?  Why not?  I have to use View Source to see it.  I wonder if WLMail gives us a better view?...   It's even worse.   Can't see the XML because it's encoded in base64.  How useful!

Anybody have a better RSS reader which shows the information that we want?

Otherwise, with IE, try this.  Turn off the Feed reading view.  Via Options, Content, Feeds...  If you have the Feed already open you will have to at least press Ctrl-k.   The XML element that you want to look at for each item is  <a10:updated>

    FYI

  • The XML element that you want to look at for each item is  <a10:updated>

This shows a problem.  The items are not ordered by that element but that is what we need.   Somebody is going to have to write some XSLT to at least fix that.   I may have a go at that via Powershell.

So how are they ordered?...  Now it looks as if the XSL that is used actually may do this?  When I do a Show All, they are all ordered by date.  So are there really some missing?  FWIW I only have 44 items in my Feed for this forum on IE so far.

  • I'm a moderator on the WPF forum. As such I have always had a link from my favourites bar to:

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/wpf

    Unfortunately, this now redirects to:

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/home

But http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/wpf works fine and redirects to:

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/home?forum=wpf

Can you fix the "en" = "en-US" issue please?

I see quite a few WPF related questions appearing there now.

So I guess I'm not the only one. You don't want to confuse all your bookmarkers.

For a moment, I seriously thought you'd merged the technology into vstudio general :O

    Then I must be the 1% :D

My post just above yours and Ed's regarding redirection is STILL an issue.

Any poor WPF developers who had the WPF forum linked would by now have tried their bookmark and been redirected to the wrong forum, and a percentage would no doubt have assumed that was not a good sign for the future of the technology :/

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/wpf still redirects to the general vstudio forum instead of the WPF forum...

  • XAML guy,

Would you mind creating a new forum thread for this?

We discussed this topic offline. It's basically just that the new search isn't reaching across brands anymore (TechNet VS MSDN VS Microsoft corporate branding), and so people in TechNet can't find the dev techs, are posting in the wrong forum/brand on TechNet, and thus are getting their threads moved to Off Topic more than previously.

Good issue we need to take care of!

    Thanks!
