Speech Recognition Problem

Windows 7. The speech Recognition does not respond to my voice, (after I trained it for me). It comes up with all different kinds of things like "G E 1 5 etc. etc. " and sometimes it just comes up on things on it's own. What am I doing wrong because this is frustrating to keep trying to get this to work, please help if you can.
