Problem with Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain controllers RRS feed

  • Question

  • We just completed a reboot on all our Windows Server 2008 R2 Domain controllers and they all now have the problem that the Windows Event Log service no longer starts, DNS no longer starts either.

When you try and start the Windows Event Log Service you get the error: ERROR 0x8007000w: not enough storage is available to complete this operation

When you try and start the DNS server you get the error: Error 1717: The Interface is Unknown

You can ping out to other computers on the network from the DC's, you cannot ping the DC's from computers and you cannot ping the DC's from another DC.

    Could that be the solution?:

  • Hello JamesHart,

Based on the symptom, the cause could be that the required permission is missing on winevt folder. If so, please add local system account and gave it full permission.

    %SystemRoot%\System32\winevt

Error message when attempting to start the Windows Event Log Service: "Access denied"
