DPM2012 SP1 - Can't Co-Locate a VM backup RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a Protection group that currently backs up 4 VM's.  I want to backup additional VM's however, when I add these VM's to the group, DPM is forcing me to create a new replica and recovery point volume and will not allow me to co-locate this VM.  I ran into this before and was able to get around it by increasing value of "DSCollocationFactor".  However, I've upped this value from 16 to 30 and I still don't have the option to co-locate.  Can someone please tell me what I need to do in to get this to work?

  • Did you try increasing the CollocatedReplicaSize value? (That's under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\Collocation\HyperV)

  • That did it!  I changed it from 268435456000 (250GB)  to 536870912000 (500GB)

    Thanks!
