Windows Intune and wireless connectivity (with BYOD)

    Question

  • I hope someone can advice me around the following topic.

I am working for two customers where we have implemented 802.1x EAP Authentication and NAP (Network Access Protection). This works great for managed Windows domain-joined clients. But more often they get requests around BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). Windows Intune offers a great service for BYOD, a step forward.

But I wonder, can Windows Intune offer support for connectivity (e.g. wireless security). For example; Is it possible to pre-define wireless SSID network (with PSK) or let 802.1x/EAP with NAP know it is an manged device by Windows Intune? I'm afraid it does not support such features (yet), but I want to know what it can offer in this scenario. Does it offer anything on network security?

  • I have a similar issue, as we have configmgr already I'm looking at using InTune as our MDM and BYO* solution. I need to be able to deploy certificates issued from our on-premise certificate authority to our intune clients for authentication. Does anyone know if this is possible or in the InTune roadmap.

  • Hi all,

No, it's not possible to deploy certs or network configurations today with Windows Intune.  We appreciate the feedback and will keep it in mind when exploring future versions of the service.

    Thanks,
