Exchange Server - Store Logs and databases

Question
-
My organization has ExchangeServer 2010 ( 2 mailbox, 2 hubtransport, 2 cas).
I need to increase the database mailbox space, but I have a doubt:
- Why Microsoft published that the best way to store the databases/logs in separated LUNS? Can I store everything (Logs/databases) in the same LUN?
For administration, store everything in the same LUN is more efficient, I believe.
I give my sincere apologies, I dont have fluency in english.
Thanks.Monday, August 3, 2015 5:22 PM

In a DAG, placing the logs and DBs on the same LUN is supported

If these are standalone servers, you can do that, but its not a best practice for obvious reasons.

Thanks Andy, another question:
Why is recommend to have each database in a separate disk? In our virtual environment, we can have the virtual disks all in one LUN - one for database, other for log ?"

Is this a database avail group or stand-alone? If a DAG, then no issues doing that. In a stand-alone, you risk data loss and downtime.Twitter!:
