A couple of out of context lines from the log files don't help much at all -- the whole point of logs is the context of what's going on at the time of the failure.
From the above though, my guess is that there are other difference like these two clients are in different locations.Have you tried testing both methods on the same PC in the same locatin?
DO you have AD extended and is your site information properly published in AD?
