Upgrade from Project Server 2010 to 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone

I was tasked with researching how to upgrade our existing Project Server 2010 to Project Server 2013. Right now, Server 2010 is a stand alone server. 2013 will be installed on all front ends of our Sp2013 farm.

I followed these instructions for Project Server 2013 build. I have it on Server 2008 R2 SP1, and I am running SQL 2008 R2 SP2.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc197280.aspx

I managed to get the Project Server 2013 up and running. I launched the CA on SP and checked my web applications. Under Manage Content Databases, one of the web applications had two databases. I detached both of them (and I backed up the original database). I overwrote the databases with the databases from the Project Server 2010. Then I mounted both of the databases to the same web application.

Now, that web application has two databases mounted, named ProjectDB and WSS_Content, but I get this error when I try to launch the /pwa site

    Error
An error occurred during the compilation of the requested file, or one of its dependencies. 'Microsoft.Office.Project.PWA.IDS' does not contain a definition for 'LICENSE_COPYRIGHT_TEXT'

Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation.

Can you point me in the right direction here? Once I have the Project Server 2013 up and running, how am I supposed to move the content from Project Server 2010 there?

    Thanks!!

  • Any ideas anyone? I would hate to waste a call to MSDN for this...

  • Were you ever able to find a resolution to that error? I am doing a migration from project 2010 to 2013 and am getting that error when I try to connect to the PWA site in my SharePoint 2013 environment. I also am not able to run the SHarepOint powershell scripts to test -spsite http://devsp2013/pwa and it says it is an invalid command. any help would be awesome

  • The error is showing that you are using SharePoint Foundation.  You must be running SharePoint Enterprise to run project server.

  • Hello again,

This error also occurs if you don't enable project server.

    Enable-SPFeature http://yourserver/PWA-URL$PWA

    Cheers!
