Sharepoint Calendar Permissions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Have a user setup as a visitor on a sharepoint page.  I know you can go in and change file/folder permissions to have write access to a specific file, but how do you give a visitor write access to the calendar?

  • hi,

Go to calendar settings > permissions > then select actions and click edit permissions ( we are breaking the inheritence of parent permissions)

Then select the viewers/readers group check box > then click edit user permissions under actions > the uncheck the read access and check contributor access. then click OK

Now see if the user is able to edit calendar or not?

  • Like a-Yadala said, you will need to break inheritance of permissions on the calendar and edit the permissions of that user to have contribute access.

I'll just add that if you have multiple users that need contribute access, you may want to create a SharePoint group that you can grant contribute permission to that calendar. That way, you can simply add/remove users from that group. You won't need to edit the calendar permissions each time you need to add or remove a user.

  • We already have a contribute group, but the user requested that they just have edit access to the calendar.  Was hoping this wasn't going to complicate the permissions.  Not that the above is difficult, just more to manage.
