Cannot read CD RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am running windows 7 and for whatever reason it can no longer detect my cds. One day it worked and the next it didn't.If I try to search for it, it cannot find the drive specified. Not sure if it is the D drive or the E drive but have tried both and it will not read it.

Answers

  • Have you tried rebooting?

Optical drives do break, and they're not usually hugely expensive to fix (except perhaps in a laptop).  Look in your Windows event logs for indications of hardware failure.

Click Start then Computer to bring up Windows Explorer and to see what drive letter your optical drive is assigned.  If it is not present at all, it may be another indication that the drive has failed.
