SQL Server Management Studio 2014 & Visual Studio Isolated Shell 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I successfully packaged SSMS 2014 for 32 bit OS. The problem I am faced with is that the VSIsoShell takes up 1.2 GB of disk space. Because of the amount of disk space this takes up, I need to reduce the install to something smaller. When you install this tool, there is an option for customizing the install but there is nothing to select. I need to get around this.

    Would anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Robert

  • A requerment for SSMS is VSIsoShell 2010... you have to install it locally. Minimum requirements are:

    VS_Prerequisites_x64_ENU.msi
    vs_setup.msi
    VS10sp1-KB2413561.msp
    KB2251489.msp
    VS10sp1-KB983509.msp
    VS10sp1-KB983509-Pro.msp

  • Hi Tiberivs,

As I mentioned, I did this successfully and it works. I need to know if there is a way to reduce the size of the Visual Studio Isolated Shell 2010 install for the client side?

    Thanks,

    Robert
