Public Documents vs. Indexed Documents RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Some questions in regards to indexing terminology as I cannot find them on the actual FAST ESP documentation:

    a) What's the difference between 'public documents' vs. 'indexed documents'?

    b) Why is it sometimes the 'indexed documents' is greater than the 'public documents'?

    c) If the 'indexed documents' is greater than the 'public documents', how can I make equal via commands instead of waiting?

  • Public documents are the searchable documents which are available for all users, i.e. there is no ACL on the document.

Indexed documents are all documents stored by the indexed.

If you are running without the Security Access module (SAM), the Public and indexed documents should be the same on a stable index. It will however take some time to make the documents searchable (depending on the HW and size of index), so there will be a delay. If it never becomes the same, you can try a resetindex (indexeradmin -a resetindex). This command will rebuild the index, and it can take a long time if you have a large index.
